'Running for Lime Tree' District Cross Country

On Tuesday 22nd February, a selection of Key Stage Two children took part in the District Cross Country Event. This was the small schools’ competition, we competed against 3 other schools in 4 races.

The first race was year 3&4 girls race who competed over the distance of 600m with some long hills and some muddy areas. The team consisted of Loxy, Juno, Merryn and Scarlett who all worked really hard and tried their best during the race showing great determination to finish the course.

The second race was the year 3&4 boys’ race over the same distance. This team consisted of Zuva, Henry, Arthur, Thomas, Brendan, Daniel, Oli. Just like the girls, all the boys worked exceptionally hard and completed the course. This was a very exciting race and we finished with three in the top 10, with a medal going to Oli who had a great race finishing in 3rd place.

Next, we moved onto the Year 5&6 races and the girls first. This was another tough race over 1.2K using the same hills and a few more. The team for the girls was Maddie, Kaelyn, Emily and a special mention to Bella who stepped in at lunch time to fill the gaps in our team. Once again, the girls all tried so hard and it was great to see them smiling as they ran, all trying their best.

Last race was the boys’ year 5&6 with a team that consisted of Sebastian, Henry, Sebastian, Seb, Samuel, Rhys, Leo and Ben. These boys set good examples throughout the event, leading the warmup and also taking the lead on the pre-route walk. They also ran really well in their event with lots of determination and excellent finishes too.

We would like to say a big thank you to all who provided support during the event. The first thank you goes to the children, as your support towards each other was fantastic to watch and showed real sportsmanship. Secondly, thank you to all the parents who came to support on the day. The school values were shown throughout this event and it made us both very proud.

Cross country will be back next year, and we will run the club again ready to compete in the event so watch this space and keep enjoying running.
