SSB Member Profiles

Kate Ma ..... Chair

'I am a parent nominated member of the SSB elected to the Board in November 2017 and elected as Chair for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 academic years.

I live in Merstham and work locally as a financial services consultant.  I have two children, in years 6 and 3, and my interests include dancing, music and design.

I joined the SSB as I am committed to improving the standards of our school for all pupils, so that every child in our wonderfully diverse community has the opportunity to flourish.  I believe good communication will be fundamental to achieving this.

In my job I work closely with Trustee and Corporate Boards which have similar characteristics to a board like the SSB.  I am therefore familiar with the standards of good governance and requirements of public office under which I must operate.

My degree in maths and professional qualifications mean I am able to contribute effectively to the oversight of the financial performance of the school and help to ensure value is obtained for the money spent.'

I consider objectivity, accountability and transparency to be essential to my role.  I am dedicated to undertaking the necessary training to supplement any gaps in my experience.

I am excited at the prospect of working with the GLF, the staff, pupils and wider community in this next stage of Lime Tree Primary School’s development.  As we reach full school capacity, I am enthusiastic about continuing to build a school of which we can all be proud and provides all our children with the best educational experience possible.'

Rebecca Mullard ..... Vice Chair

'I have two children at Lime Tree and I enjoy being actively involved in school life separately from my work on the SSB. I run a free lunchtime Languages Club for children in Years 1 and 2 and I love coming in to help in class with various activities.

I am a specialist employment lawyer, experienced in advising on HR issues, as well as considering strategic, compliance and financial issues.  Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, I had a role supporting postgraduate students with disabilities, which included liaising with Local Education Authorities in relation to applications for funding and needs assessments.

One of my responsibilities on the SSB is to act as the Special Educational Needs and Inclusion link between the school and the SSB, which involves understanding what the school does for children with additional needs and questioning and challenging the impact of what the school does for those children.

As Vice Chair of the SSB, I support Kate in her role as Chair.'

Sarah Morgan ..... Clerk to the SSB

'I have been clerking for governing bodies for 16 years and I joined GLF last year. I currently clerk for four GLF SSBs in Merstham and Crawley. My role is to work with the Chair, Head Teacher and Education Partner, to agree the SSB meeting agendas, ensure required documentation is made available and to minute the meetings.  I also act as a support to the Chair and Vice Chair and advise on GLF procedures and governance legislation where required.

Outside of work, I am a keen amateur photographer and astronomer. I also love long distance walking, all around Sussex and way beyond! I have a passion for travel, enjoying off-the-beaten-track locations and volunteering where possible.'

Tim Rogers ..... Education Partner

'I am the Education Partner for six schools within GLF, including Lime Tree Primary School. I oversee KS1, Early Years and Children's Centres. Formerly a Head Teacher of two schools in the primary sector, I joined GLF Schools in 2015.'

Alex Dorlandt ..... Community Member

I am a Senior Sourcing Manager at Lloyds Banking Group with 20 years’ experience in 3rd party negotiation, business and commercial strategy.  I have spent years driving value for money out of 3rd party delivery, with a strong focus on risk management.

I also have two children at another school in Surrey.

Sarah Lord ..... Community Member

'I currently have two children at Lime Tree and therefore I am passionate about the continued development of Lime Tree School and the excellent education the children receive. Sitting on the School Strategy Board enables me to contribute towards the continual evolution of the school and its standing in the local community.

Professionally, I am a Partner of a UK top 10 accountancy practice, and a Chartered Financial Planner. I am also a member nominated Director of The Personal Finance Society, representing over 33,000 members of the Professional Body so have a lot of experience of acting in a governance capacity as is required for the School Strategy Board member role.'
